This occurs
when a user is upgrading to a new computer. In this scenario
the user will want to retain all existing information from the "OLD"
computer. You'll install VRLink onto the "NEW" computer,
delete it, then copy and paste from the "OLD" computer to the "NEW"
one. The simplest way to achieve this install is to have the
"NEW" and "OLD" computers linked or networked together. Follow
these steps:
-
Download the
latest version of
VRLink to the "NEW" computer - Follow the "latest version of
VRLink" link to find the correct version of the program. Click
on the link. This will start the download process. You
can download the file to a specific folder of your choosing or to
your Desktop.
-
Install the software to the "NEW" computer -
After the download is complete, click on the "Open" button... or
with Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where you saved the
downloaded file. Then double click it. In either case,
this will begin the installation which will
create the appropriate registry entries, desktop icon and folder
structure.
-
Delete the installed folder structure from the "NEW"
computer. Look for the folder under the root of
drive-C. It will look like C:\VRL_XXX... where "XXX" is
your three character vendor ID. Please take special care in
identifying and deleting this folder. Once deleted, this
folder, its files and all its child folders and files will all be deleted.
-
Copy the same folder from the "OLD" computer.
Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the C:\VRL_XXX folder on the
"OLD" computer.
Right-click on the folder, then select "Copy."
-
Paste to the "NEW" computer. This will copy the
entire contents of the C:\VRL_XXX folder and its child folders
to the "NEW" computer.
