There are four scenarios for installing VRLink:
-
New User - This installation
occurs when an individual has just been hired or has been identified
to be a new user of VRLink. In this case, the new user's
computer has no version of the program installed for the vendor.
There are cases when an independent sales rep, who rep's lines for
multiple vendors, may have VRLink installed for vendor "A" but not
for vendor "B." The installation of vendor "B's" VRLink, in
this case, would be new.
-
Existing User installing an updated version -
This occurs when a new version of VRLink is released and should be
installed by all users. This installation is always made over
the top of the existing installation for the vendor. Existing
customer and order data are preserved during the install process.
-
Existing user upgrading to a new computer
- This occurs when a user is upgrading to a new computer. In
this scenario the user will want to retain all existing information
on the "OLD" computer. You'll install VRLink onto the "NEW"
computer, delete it, then copy and paste from the "OLD" computer to
the "NEW" one. The simplest way to achieve this install is to
have the "NEW" and "OLD" computers linked or networked together.
-
Existing user installing to a new computer
- This occurs when an existing user's computer was either lost,
stolen or damaged beyond repair. This scenario is implemented
similarly to the "New User" scenario.
